The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) at Scripps College enhances students’ educational experiences by offering diverse co-curricular programs, fostering community, and supporting student-led initiatives. OSE encourages students to engage in Scripps’ vibrant campus life by joining clubs and organizations (CLORGs), participating in campus governance, and planning or attending social, cultural, and intellectual events. For those looking to create new clubs, OSE can guide students through the registration and development processes and offers support for CLORG registration, training, and the CLORG Fair.
To host an event, students work with OSE for registration, securing resources, and gaining necessary permissions. The minimum planning times vary based on the event's scale—from three days for small gatherings with no additional resources to up to 12 weeks for large 5C parties. The office provides event-planning resources and rentals like board games, speakers, and karaoke machines for club use. OSE also oversees the Scripps Posting Policy, where all campus flyers need prior approval through a digital stamp obtained via an online form.
Helpful Links:
1. STUDENT EVENT RESERVATION FORM
All student groups (Scripps CLORGs and 5C Clubs) MUST request for event reservation approval for any space on scripps campus.
2. EVENT POSTING APPROVAL FORM
All flyers posted on the Scripps College campus, must be approved by OSE and have the official “Scripps Approved” seal. In an effort to reduce contact and office traffic, we are not approving flyers in person. All flyers must be submitted through this form.
3. SCRIPPS COLLEGE POSTER POLICY
The following section will give you guidelines and resources for promoting your event specifically on the Scripps campus.
Programs coordinated by OSE include New Student Programs and Orientation (NSPO) and Scripps 360, which introduce new students to Scripps’ community values, academic engagement, and personal growth opportunities. The Community Coordinators (CC) program fosters student connections and school spirit through events and activities across the Scripps community.
For those looking for upcoming events and club activities across the five Claremont Colleges, the Engage@Claremont platform is a useful resource. Students can access Scripps-specific events, and if events are open to all 5C or 7C campuses, the Engage platform will indicate so. This platform makes it easy for students to explore and get involved in campus happenings.
Additionally, OSE runs the student-led Scripps Store, which offers Scripps-branded merchandise designed by students and located in Seal Court. The store is open on weekdays and regularly updates its merchandise and events on Instagram @thescrippsstore.
OSE staff work in collaboration with Scripps Associated Students, student clubs, and other college offices to make Scripps an engaging and inclusive environment. They provide essential resources like the Guide to Student Life and Code of Conduct, which outline campus policies, demonstration guidelines, and community expectations, all aimed at fostering a welcoming and well-supported student community.
