The Resource Guide is a project initiated by SAS 2020-2021 (Scripps Associated Students) that was proposed by the Student Body President, Safia Hassan, and taken on by the Student Senate, led by the Executive Vice President, Grace Zhirui Shao. The SAS Senators were Corine Astroth, Emily Anderson, Isabella Kan, Kaitlyn Chen, Melia Oliver, Moriah Irving, and Niva Laurent. The recent edits and revising has been made by SAS 2023-2024 Resource Guide Committee (Gabby Daniel, Jiwon Hyung, Jackie Owens, Stella Kazanjian) and 2024-2025 Committee (Jiwon Hyung, Katie Rogers, Piper Brentnall).
About SAS: Scripps Associated Students (SAS) is committed to strengthening the Scripps Community by empowering students to live confidently, courageously, and hopefully in a community of which we can all be proud. The function of SAS is to liaise between the student body and the administration, faculty, and the Board of Trustees of Scripps College. SAS plans a variety of programs and activities, funds clubs and organizations, and serves as an advocate for student needs and concerns in an effort to improve student life on and off campus.
About the Senate: SAS Senate is composed of students that are appointed via an application process every fall. Representatives are confirmed and are subject to the approval of 2/3 of the SAS Board. This year, the SAS Senate consists of three committees: Resource Guide, Beheard Forum, Wellness Vending Machine.
The Senate has taken on resource mapping to compile and condense all the resources that are available to students and present them in an accessible way. The resource map comprises services from offices all over the Claremont Colleges including but not limited to academic, career, funding, and mental health related resources.
